Anambra State holds funerals for retired Lt-Gen Obiakor and Rev. Dr. William Okoye

Funeral ceremonies were held in Anambra State for two prominent figures: retired Lieutenant-General Chukwukadibia Isaac Obiakor and Rev. Dr. William Okoye, the former chaplain of Aso Rock Villa.

At the service for Lt-Gen Obiakor in Awka, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and Senator Victor Umeh paid their respects. Obi emphasized that security agents who serve the nation meritoriously deserve honor and dignity for their sacrifices. Obiakor’s family expressed hope that the government would eventually immortalize his contributions to society.

Separately, in Agulu, Rev. Dr. William Okoye was laid to rest. Archbishop Wale Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, described Okoye as a man of integrity who served as chaplain to two presidents without compromising his reputation. Peter Obi also attended Okoye’s burial, noting the late chaplain’s life of service to God and humanity.
