Anambra State officials receive certificates following local elections

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to newly elected local government officials following the elections held on August 29, 2026. The ceremony, held in Awka on September 1, 2026, included the presentation of certificates to 20 mayors, deputy mayors, and councillors.

According to results announced by ANSIEC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured all 21 chairmanship seats and 364 councillorship positions. ANSIEC Chairperson Mrs. Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe commended the electoral process and urged the new officials to prioritize development and good governance in their localities.
