Anambra State security forces accused of violent residence invasion

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has called on the Anambra State Government to investigate a violent raid on the residence of Jude Nwoye Anokwu in Udezu Village, Achalla. The incident, which reportedly occurred on October 17, 2026, involved armed men believed to include personnel from the state security outfit, ‘Operation Udogachi’, and armed residents.

According to RULAAC, the operation was led by Chijioke Ekwelie, also known as ‘Sese Kolombo’. During the invasion, Anokwu’s residence was allegedly vandalized, and his CCTV system was destroyed. Anokwu, along with several visitors, was reportedly arrested, and their vehicle and personal belongings were seized.

A gatekeeper identified as Chibuzo was allegedly shot by a security personnel identified as ‘Atanda’ during the raid; his current whereabouts and condition remain unknown. While Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser to the Governor and commander of ‘Operation Udogachi’, maintains that security operatives do not involve themselves in private matters, RULAAC alleges the operation was carried out under his authority.

This incident follows a previous arrest of Anokwu in July 2025 related to a long-standing family land dispute. RULAAC expressed concern over the recurring nature of these actions and the reported treatment of Anokwu during previous encounters.
