Anambra tipper truck hit‑and‑run kills pedestrian, driver seized
A tipper truck traveling against traffic on the Onitsha‑Awka Expressway in Anambra State struck a male pedestrian, killing him. The driver fled the scene but the vehicle was later located and impounded at Upper Iweka in Onitsha by operatives of the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency. Agency Managing Director Emeka Konti‑Okonkwo confirmed the incident, saying the victim “a father, a brother and a promising young man” lost his life because of the motorist’s violation of traffic rules. The case has been handed over to police for investigation and possible prosecution, and the agency called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to curb similar hit‑and‑run incidents.
