Anamoe progeny win debut trials at Randwick

The first two-year-old offspring of the Darley stallion Anamoe secured victories during the season’s initial official trials at Randwick’s Kensington track in Sydney.

Bjorn Baker-trained colt Nonu won an 850-metre trial for colts and geldings, finishing 3-1/2 lengths ahead of Eagle Jac with a time of 49.02 seconds. Baker, who purchased the colt for NZ$600,000 at the Karaka Yearling Sale, noted that while the price exceeded his budget, the horse’s quality justifies the investment.

In the filly trials, Runaway Diva, trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, won the 850-metre heat in 49.22 seconds. The $380,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling finished ahead of runner-up Everlasting Grace. Trainer Adrian Bott expressed optimism regarding the progeny’s physical constitution and potential for improvement.
