Anandiben Patel calls for drug awareness among youth

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has called for increased awareness among children and youth regarding the dangers of drug abuse. Speaking at the Monsoon Festival 2026 held at Devka Beach in Daman, she emphasized the need for society to work collectively toward drug eradication.

Patel noted that tourist destinations like Daman can present temptations for substance use and expressed concern that various types of drugs have reached the area. She urged parents to remain vigilant and responsible in educating their children about the harmful effects of addiction. The Governor appealed to the public to take a collective pledge to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a drug-free society, stating that festivals should serve as platforms for social awareness as well as tourism.
