Ananindeua judge orders jury trial for fatal drunk driving accident

A judge in Ananindeua has ordered that Mauro Wilson Pereira Bendelack face a jury trial for the death of Raimundo Trindade dos Reis, an RBA employee. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 2, 2026, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

According to court documents, Bendelack was driving a Hyundai HB20 at high speed when he crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the victim's Honda Bros motorcycle. Trindade, who was returning home from work, died en route to the hospital due to traumatic brain injury.

Authorities noted that Bendelack's breathalyzer test showed a level of 1.22 mg of alcohol per liter of alveolar air. The judge's decision indicates the presence of 'dolo eventual' (eventual intent), suggesting the driver assumed the risk of causing a grave outcome. Bendelack will remain free under established precautionary measures while awaiting trial. The defense has contested the accident dynamics, citing poor road conditions, including potholes and insufficient lighting.
