Anant Ambani launches Champions of Care animal welfare initiative

Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries Limited, has launched ‘Champions of Care’, a new Vantara initiative aimed at improving community animal welfare across India. Announced on World Animal Day in Jamnagar, the program seeks to provide sustainable solutions for approximately 2 million animals annually through veterinary services, mobile rescue, shelter, and nourishment.

The initiative brings together more than 50 animal welfare organizations from 19 Indian states, including several groups from Kerala such as PAW Kannur and People for Animals. These organizations have signed a formal Letter of Understanding with Vantara to establish a framework for resource sharing and joint problem-solving.

Supported by members of the Animal Welfare Board of India, the program focuses on street dogs and cats, abandoned animals, and working livestock like cattle, donkeys, and horses. Key objectives include providing long-term care for injured or neglected animals and implementing responsible population management through animal birth control programs.
