Ananta urban RPG to launch globally on January 15, 2027

NetEase Games and Naked Rain Studio have announced a global release date of January 15, 2027, for their urban open-world RPG, Ananta (formerly known as Project Mugen). The title is slated for release on PS5, PC, and mobile platforms.

The game features a high degree of freedom within its urban environments, drawing inspiration from real-world Chinese landmarks such as Hangzhou’s West Lake and Shanghai’s Pearl Tower. Gameplay elements range from stealth and dynamic escape sequences to peaceful exploration of rural areas like Longxi Village, which features cultural activities such as tea cultivation mini-games.

Developers aim to differentiate Ananta in a saturated live-service market by focusing on a deep sense of urban life and a monetization model that allows players to unlock characters through gameplay rather than relying solely on gacha mechanics.
