Anapurus former mayor ordered to repay R$ 170,000

The State Court of Accounts has ordered the former mayor of Anapurus, Vanderly Monteles, to repay R$ 170,000 and pay a R$ 17,000 fine due to irregularities in municipal health funding during 2023.

The ruling follows a special audit initiated by the Maranhão State Health Secretariat regarding funds intended for the Madalena Monteles Municipal Hospital. The court identified serious failures in documenting expenditures, noting that the defense failed to provide essential records such as bank statements, invoices, and reports to prove that the resources were effectively used for health services.
