Anar Isgandərov addresses school uniforms and higher education law

Anar Isgandərov, Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, has addressed ongoing discussions regarding educational policies and legislation in Azerbaijan.

Regarding school uniforms, Isgandərov defended the implementation of a unified dress code for both teachers and students. He argued that a simple, standard uniform serves as a source of discipline and prevents distractions that can negatively impact the quality of lessons. He also addressed misconceptions regarding the law, stating that current regulations do not prohibit traditional attire like the kelaghayi for young girls.

On the subject of higher education, Isgandərov explained that the delay in passing the “Law on Higher Education” is not a failure but a result of the complexity involved in balancing the interests of the Ministry of Science and Education with those of various universities. He emphasized that because Azerbaijan is now a globally recognized nation, the new law must be robust and comprehensive enough to avoid the need for frequent amendments in the near future.
