ANAS launches Green Island EV hub on A2 and completes Tremonzelli tunnel upgrades on A19
ANAS inaugurated the “Green Island” rest area on the A2 Autostrada del Mediterraneo between the Montalto Uffugo and Torano interchanges in Lattarico, Calabria. The facility, slated to open to highway users in August, includes high‑power electric‑vehicle charging stations, a photovoltaic plant and other renewable‑energy systems, creating an autonomous energy hub that supports sustainable mobility.
In parallel, work on the Tremonzelli tunnel of the A19 Palermo‑Catania highway has been finished. A technical inspection was carried out to certify the structural and technological upgrades, which feature improved lighting, ventilation, fire‑safety, video surveillance and remote emergency management. Traffic will be shifted to the upgraded carriageway by the end of July, with a temporary two‑way flow while the opposite tube undergoes restoration. The projects are part of ANAS’s broader Smart Road program and are coordinated with regional authorities.
