Catania‑Siracusa highway to undergo nightly closures for tunnel ventilation upgrades

ANAS announced a revamping of the ventilation systems in the tunnels of the Catania‑Siracusa motorway. To carry out the work, traffic will be halted in both directions during nightly windows from 22:00 to 06:00 on the nights of July 6‑10, July 13‑14 and July 14‑16. The first closure will affect the segment from the northern industrial area of Catania to Augusta (km 0+000‑25+142) and the Lentini interchange ramps toward Siracusa. The subsequent closure will cover the opposite direction between Augusta and the Catania industrial zone (km 25+142‑0+100) and the Lentini ramps toward Catania.

During the restricted hours, vehicles will be diverted to the nearby ordinary road network, primarily the State Road 114 “Orientale Sicula”, with temporary signage guiding drivers. ANAS urges motorists to plan journeys accordingly, anticipate longer travel times and observe all construction signs.
