Anastazja Kuś wins historic 400m gold at World U20 Championships
Polish athlete Anastazja Kuś has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Polish woman to win a gold medal in the 400m at the World U20 Championships in Eugene, USA. During her victory, she also established a new Polish junior national record.
Following her success in the United States, Kuś traveled to Birmingham, UK, to compete in the European Athletics Championships. Despite the rapid transition, she participated in the 4x400m relay alongside teammates Anna Gryc, Alicja Wrona-Kutrzepa, and Kinga Gacka. The team secured a place in the final via a ‘lucky loser’ qualification with a time of 3:26.92.
Kuś noted that the intense travel schedule and lack of acclimatization have been physically challenging, stating that she is still feeling the effects of traveling from the other side of the world. Her mother, Alicja Kuś, expressed immense pride in her daughter's ability to win a sprint championship on American soil.
