Anatel group approves R$ 1.66 billion for TV 3.0 and AI infrastructure
The Monitoring Group for the Implementation of Solutions for Interference Problems (GAISPI), coordinated by Anatel, has approved R$ 1.66 billion in investment proposals from the 3.5 GHz Band Administrator (EAF). The funds, derived from savings in the 5G auction, are earmarked for two major initiatives: the distribution of TV 3.0 converters and the construction of a government data center.
Approximately R$ 1.28 billion will be used to distribute TV 3.0 converters to roughly 910,000 low-income families in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and the Federal District. Priority will be given to Bolsa Família beneficiaries and those registered in CadÚnico. The project, which includes logistics and communication, is expected to be implemented over 24 months, starting with a pilot in São Paulo.
The remaining R$ 375 million will fund a high-capacity data center to be operated by Telebras for federal institutions. The facility will include a dedicated module for artificial intelligence applications, featuring specialized hardware such as 48 GPUs and high-speed storage. These proposals now await final approval from Anatel’s Board of Directors.
