Anatomy education integrates AI and digital tools
During National Anatomy Week, Associate Professor Seda Arslan, Head of the Anatomy Department at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) Faculty of Medicine, highlighted the evolving landscape of anatomy education through artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
Arslan noted that AI-supported learning systems, 3D modeling, virtual dissection, and augmented reality are making anatomy more interactive and accessible. These tools allow for personalized learning by identifying specific knowledge gaps in students. However, she emphasized that digital tools complement rather than replace traditional methods.
Arslan stressed the irreplaceable value of studying the actual human body to understand natural diversity, tissue characteristics, and anatomical variations. She also highlighted the critical importance of body donation for medical research and training, describing donors as ‘silent heroes’ of medical science and encouraging citizens to contact university anatomy departments for information on the donation process.
