Anaurilândia shooting: Dispute over car repair costs leads to murder

A dispute over the cost and payment of vehicle repairs resulted in a fatal shooting in Anaurilândia, Mato Grosso do Sul, on Thursday night. The victim, 43-year-old Everton Martins de Oliveira, was sitting in his car when a suspect approached and fired more than ten shots into the vehicle cabin.

Two of the shots struck Oliveira in the head. Following the shooting, the victim attempted to drive away but lost consciousness and collided with a utility pole. Emergency services arrived to find him deceased at the scene.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man in flagrante during the early hours of Friday. The suspect, originally from Paraíba, admitted to the shooting and stated the conflict began due to a disagreement regarding the mechanical service price. During his flight, the suspect attempted to hide a Taurus 7.65 mm pistol inside an unlocked parked vehicle, which was subsequently recovered by authorities. The suspect has been charged with qualified homicide.
