Alket Rizai declared a fugitive after Anavyssos shooting incident

Alket Rizai, a high-profile criminal serving a life sentence, is officially considered a fugitive after failing to return to Domokos prison following a scheduled leave. Rizai, who has a history of two spectacular helicopter escapes from Korydallos prison in 2006 and 2009, was last seen in the Attica region.

The disappearance follows a violent incident at a beach bar in Anavyssos during the early hours of Sunday. Reports indicate that a confrontation erupted after the establishment's music was turned down. Rizai and his group allegedly played loud music from a vehicle, leading to a verbal altercation with the owner. During the ensuing chaos, Rizai is believed to have brandished a weapon and potentially fired shots into the air. An Afghan man, reportedly working in security for the beach bar, also opened fire, resulting in injuries to a 20-year-old Greek man and a 41-year-old Pakistani man.

Greek authorities have arrested the 41-year-old owner of the beach bar and his 39-year-old wife. They face charges including suborning a criminal, obstruction of justice, and complicity in illegal weapons possession. Police are currently conducting a nationwide manhunt for Rizai and the Afghan man involved in the shooting.
