Aníbal Lotocki testifies in Buenos Aires regarding aesthetic surgery injuries
Former surgeon Aníbal Lotocki testified before the Oral Criminal and Correctional Court No. 17 in Buenos Aires regarding allegations of serious injuries reported by five women. During his testimony, Lotocki discussed the evolution of aesthetic procedures, noting that during the 1990s, the middle class increasingly sought out injectables and prosthetics to address wrinkles. He specifically stated that “methacrylate was the star of the moment” during that era.
Lotocki’s testimony followed that of Paola Auzmendi, the first complainant to appear before judges Pablo Vega, Julio López Casariego, and Juan Giudice Bravo. This specific legal proceeding is distinct from a previous trial involving injuries to Silvina Luna and others, for which Lotocki was sentenced to eight years in prison for fraud and serious injury.
Additionally, Lotocki faces charges for the alleged manslaughter of Cristian Zárate, a 50-year-old man who died in April 2021 following aesthetic surgery at the Centro Médico Conde (CEMECO). Several other individuals, including plastic surgeon Daniel Enrique Zambrano García, anesthesiologist Santiago Luis Olguín, and medical center director Andrea Isabel Torelli, are also being judged in connection with Zárate's death.
