Anbernic launches RG 55G1 retro gaming handheld

Anbernic has announced the launch of the RG 55G1, an Android 14-based handheld gaming console designed primarily for retro gaming and emulation. The device features a design reminiscent of the Nintendo Switch Lite, including a horizontal layout and integrated controls.

Technical specifications include a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 processor paired with an Adreno A12 GPU. To prevent stick drift, the console utilizes Hall-effect joysticks and triggers. The hardware is expected to support emulation for various platforms, including PlayStation 2 and Wii systems.

The RG 55G1 is available in two primary configurations: 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage, and 8GB RAM with 128GB of storage. Pricing starts at approximately $139.99 for the base model, with higher-end configurations reaching up to $225. The device includes a 6,000mAh battery, which Anbernic claims can provide up to eight hours of use, and supports microSD cards up to 2TB. It is available in black, retro grey, and indigo finishes.
