Anbernic launches RG DDS dual-screen handheld
Anbernic has officially launched the RG DDS, a dual-screen clamshell handheld designed specifically for retro console emulation. The device features a design reminiscent of the Nintendo 3DS, utilizing two IPS panels: a 4.7-inch top screen (1200 x 720) and a 4-inch bottom screen (960 x 720). Both displays offer 300PPI and 500 nits of brightness, and the unit includes a built-in retractable capacitive stylus.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor with an Adreno A22 GPU, the device runs on Android 16. It is engineered to handle demanding emulation tasks beyond basic 8-bit and 16-bit systems, specifically targeting libraries that require dual displays, such as the Nintendo DS and 3DS. Hardware features include a 6,000mAh battery with 27W charging, active cooling via a fan and heat pipe, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and a six-axis gyroscope.
Pre-orders are available for two configurations: an 8GB RAM/128GB storage model priced at $284.99, and a 12GB RAM/256GB storage model priced at $349.99. Shipping is scheduled to begin gradually starting December 10, 2026.
