ANC announces civil summit to coordinate Catalan independence strategy

The Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC) has announced plans to convene a civil independence summit within the next month. The goal of this meeting is to unite citizens and civic entities to establish a new political and social strategy, aiming to create a turning point for the secessionist movement in Catalonia.

This initiative seeks to place organized civil society at the center of the movement, arguing that momentum should not rely solely on political parties or institutions but on direct citizen participation. The summit is intended to serve as a space for coordination and collective reflection to build a shared roadmap.

This announcement follows recent demonstrations, including a Diada event where the ANC reported approximately 128,000 participants across Barcelona, Girona, and Amposta. ANC President Josep Vila stated the organization aims to build a majority capable of a major mobilization by the autumn of 2027, marking the tenth anniversary of the October 1 referendum.
