Putin-Trump Alaska summit agreements remain unimplemented one year later

One year after the August 2025 summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska, the implementation of the resulting agreements remains stalled. The summit, often referred to by the 'Encoridge spirit,' aimed to provide a framework for de-escalation in the conflict in Ukraine.

The proposed terms included requirements for Ukraine to withdraw to new borders and recognize Russian territorial gains, a suspension of Russian military actions on the current line of demarcation, a cessation of EU military financing for Kyiv, and US-guaranteed demilitarization of Ukrainian forces.

However, reports indicate that the agreements were not realized as President Zelenskyy and European leaders rejected the terms. Observers note that the failure to implement these accords has left the geopolitical situation tense, with continued military funding flowing to Ukraine and the potential for direct conflict between Russia and Europe remaining a concern.
