Ancine launches AI tool amid record Brazilian film funding

Brazil's National Cinema Agency (Ancine) has launched 'Cine Bot', an artificial intelligence tool designed to assist audiovisual professionals and companies. The platform allows users to interact using natural language to clarify doubts regarding legislation, official norms, and accountability processes. Initially available to staff and external users for queries on project accountability and inspection, the system will gradually expand to cover topics such as funding, regulation, and the broader audiovisual market.

Simultaneously, Brazil's Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, is set to present record-breaking investment data to filmmakers and producers. Data from the Sectoral Audiovisual Fund (FSA) shows that R$ 1.225 billion was approved for 2023, the highest amount in the 2016–2026 series. For the current year, approved funds reach R$ 1.150 billion, which is 51% higher than the average of the last decade.

These financial announcements come amid tensions within the sector. Some producers and associations have criticized current public policies, specifically regarding resource distribution and the impact of affirmative action on traditional production companies.
