Ancón II prison: Explosive and threat found against Keiko Fujimori
A suspicious package, potentially containing an explosive device, and a threatening manuscript directed at President Keiko Fujimori were discovered near the Ancón II prison in northern Lima on Monday morning.
The discovery occurred around 6:00 a.m. after a driver spotted a box resembling a shoe package near the facility. The National Police of Peru (PNP) and specialists from the Explosive Deactivation Unit (UDEX) intervened to secure the area and evaluate the object.
The accompanying note demanded action against criminal organizations operating in Lima's northern cone, criticizing the authorities' response to murders and extortion. The manuscript specifically addressed President Fujimori, stating, “Presidenta Keiko Fujimori, basta ya de muertes en el cono norte. Haga algo.” The text also called for the transfer of certain inmates to the Naval Base and warned of ongoing criminal activities being coordinated from within correctional facilities.
