Ancol to host Indonesia's first National Beach Games in 2026
The first National Beach Games, known as PON Pantai, is scheduled to take place in Ancol, North Jakarta, in November 2026. The event is a collaborative initiative between the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI Pusat), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, KONI DKI Jakarta, and Jaya Ancol.
KONI Pusat Chairman Marciano Norman stated that Ancol provides an ideal venue for this inaugural event, aiming to promote “sport tourism” by combining athletic competition with popular tourist destinations. The initiative seeks to develop Indonesian beach sports and identify talent for international competition, following the global trend of Beach Games.
Planned disciplines for the competition include aquatic sports such as open water swimming and water polo; ball games including beach volleyball, beach handball, 3x3 basketball, and rugby; as well as sailing, diving, teqball, triathlon, and modern pentathlon.
