ANCOM report reveals rise in Romanian telecom incidents

A recent report from the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) indicates an increase in significant electronic communication incidents in Romania. In 2025, providers reported 938 incidents, up from 861 in the previous year.

The disruptions primarily affected mobile services. Mobile internet was impacted in 916 incidents, while mobile voice services and SMS were affected in approximately 900 to 908 cases. In contrast, fixed-line services remained relatively stable, with only 13 incidents reported for fixed internet and 5 for fixed voice.

Geographically, the Moldavia region experienced the highest frequency of issues. Vaslui reported the highest number of incidents at 95, followed by Buzău with 85, Vrancea with 83, Iași with 79, and Teleorman with 78. Conversely, counties such as Botoșani, Arad, and Covasna reported the fewest incidents, with fewer than ten each.
