Ancona bus driver assaulted following dispute over dog muzzle

A bus driver in Ancona was assaulted on Wednesday evening after requesting that a passenger muzzle a dog. The incident occurred at a bus terminus in the Passetto area while the vehicle was preparing to resume its route.

The aggressor, a 20-year-old man, reportedly reacted violently by grabbing the driver by the neck. Carabinieri arrived at the scene following alerts from passengers. The Conerobus driver was treated at a local emergency room for a back injury and received a ten-day medical prognosis. The assailant has been charged with injury and resistance to a public official.

Local unions expressed deep concern regarding an escalation of violence against transport workers, noting that similar aggression occurred as recently as July 20. Unions have called for increased security measures, including the presence of law enforcement at critical points and on board buses.
