Ancona hosts Festa del Mare with research and cultural events
The city of Ancona is hosting the Festa del Mare, a multi-faceted event featuring culinary, scientific, and cultural initiatives. Local restaurateurs are participating by creating specialized seafood menus to celebrate the sea through gastronomy.
As part of the FISCIÒ 2026 project, research hubs will be established in Piazza Cavour. Researchers from the Università Politecnica delle Marche and CNR-IRBIM will present studies on marine biodiversity, ecosystem pressures, and sustainable aquaculture. These sessions aim to bridge the gap between scientific research and professional training in fisheries management.
Educational talks scheduled for the weekend will focus on fishing tourism as a method to diversify income for fishermen and promote the local territory. Additionally, the event includes cultural activities such as the ‘Amendola da Amare’ fashion show at the Porto Antico, organized by local businesses in coordination with Confartigianato Imprese to highlight local commerce and community ties.
