Ancona police expand summer safety patrols along Adriatic coast
Police and carabinieri in the province of Ancona have stepped up joint patrols under the "Estate insieme in sicurezza" programme. On the Riviera del Conero, officers conducted night‑time checks in Numana, Marcelli and Sirolo, monitoring popular gathering spots such as Piazza Miramare and a local arcade. The operation identified 18 individuals, two of whom were already known to law‑enforcement, and concluded without any public‑order incidents.
In the nearby town of Senigallia, the same inter‑force framework intensified surveillance of the seafront and nightlife venues. During a raid on a discotheque, police intercepted a robbery in which a young patron’s necklace was stolen. The suspect was arrested on the spot and transferred to the Senigallia police station for prosecution. Both actions are part of broader preventive measures aimed at curbing petty crime, drug use and under‑age alcohol consumption during the summer tourist season.
