Ancona prepares for the return of the Palio di Ancona historical parade

The Palio di Ancona is set to return on September 27 with a historical parade through the city. The procession will begin at Piazza Cavour and travel along Corso Garibaldi, concluding at Piazza della Repubblica.

Mayor Daniele Silvetti will lead the parade in period clothing, accompanied by his spouse and a delegation of city officials and local figures. This event marks a shift from the sports-focused competitions held in the 1970s toward a more ceremonial historical celebration. There are ongoing local concerns regarding whether construction work in Piazza della Repubblica will be completed in time for the festivities.
