Ancona signs urban safety pact with authorities and business groups

On 10 July 2026, the Palazzo del Governo in Ancona hosted the signing of a "Patto per la sicurezza urbana" involving the prefecture, the Marche regional government, the municipal authority, the Ministry of the Interior’s deputy secretary Emanuele Prisco and several business associations including CNA Ancona. The agreement commits the partners to expand video‑surveillance coverage, improve public lighting, regenerate deteriorated urban spaces and strengthen social‑prevention programmes. It also calls for greater participation of private operators, who will make their own surveillance equipment available while respecting privacy rules, and for coordinated action by police, local volunteers and social services.

The pact aims to boost the safety perception of the city, encouraging retailers, artisans and other enterprises to remain open and invest in neighbourhoods. Mayor Daniele Silvetti highlighted the role of integration, noting that 16 % of Ancona’s residents are foreign‑born and that schooling and services for women are key to avoiding school dropout. Regional President Francesco Acquaroli said the initiative will facilitate cooperation among law‑enforcement bodies and support measures against illegal immigration, under‑age alcohol sales and sub‑letting violations.
