Ancona unveils renovated Corso Garibaldi with new urban furniture

Ancona inaugurated the refurbished Corso Garibaldi on Monday, 29 June 2026. The project adds 24 new white‑sintered stone benches, 48 flower beds, 13 waste bins and 24 LED‑lit lamp posts that direct light toward the pavement. The lighting system, supplied by AnconAmbiente, aims to improve safety while saving energy.

Mayor Daniele Silvetti said, “We are giving citizens a renewed space, a place for meeting and socialising.” Public works assessor Stefano Tombolini added that the redesign “creates a more welcoming urban environment.” Residents generally welcomed the changes, with local real‑estate agent Lorena noting the upgrade “values the city and our activity,” while others expressed concerns about potential vandalism and maintenance.

The new furnishings include wooden seats treated with anti‑graffiti coating, although early reports mention dark stains and bird droppings appearing within weeks. City officials called on citizens to respect the new installations to keep the area clean and functional.
