Ancud Hospital Nears Partial Opening with 86% Medical Equipment Installed

The new Ancud Hospital in Chile’s Chiloé region is advancing toward a phased opening. Director of the Servicio de Salud Chiloé, Francisco Camilo, reported that 86% of medical equipment has been received and 88% of general equipment is already available for the first stage, which includes imaging, cardiology, neurology and dentistry units.

Construction progress is being monitored weekly, with the contractor addressing observed deficiencies. The Health Ministry’s IT network and other technological upgrades are also nearing completion. The regional health authority has allocated roughly 4.8 billion Chilean pesos to fund the hospital’s finalisation, equipment acquisition, staff training and initial operation. Camilo said, “Cada semana revisamos en detalle el avance de este proyecto porque entendemos la expectativa que existe en la comunidad… nuestro objetivo es asegurar que cada etapa de la puesta en marcha se desarrolle con los más altos estándares de calidad y seguridad.”
