And Gueusseum announces 48-hour national healthcare strike

The healthcare workers' alliance, And Gueusseum, has announced a 48-hour national strike scheduled for October 15 and 16. This mobilization is part of the group's 17th action plan, driven by claims that bilateral agreements signed in 2022 regarding salaries, career advancement, and indemnity regimes have not been effectively implemented.

While a meeting with the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene on October 1, 2026, provided assurances regarding technician hierarchy access, additional training for social workers and nurses, and the issuance of long-awaited diplomas, several critical issues remain unresolved. These include the indemnity regime, the status of local government agents, land issues, and the retirement age of 65.

To resolve the deadlock, the union has requested an audience with the Prime Minister to establish a definitive roadmap. In addition to the strike, And Gueusseum plans to continue withholding health and social data, hold general assemblies, and boycott coordination and supervision meetings.
