And Gueusseum calls 48‑hour health sector strike in Senegal
The Alliance And Gueusseum trade union announced a 48‑hour total strike of health‑care workers on 23‑24 July 2026, cancelling all emergency care and eliminating any minimum service provision. The union says the action follows perceived government neglect of the commitments made in the social‑economic stability pact and targets Minister of Public Service and Labour Mamadou Lamine Dianté, accusing him of threatening sanctions against striking workers.
And Gueusseum reiterates its demands for housing allowances for contract health agents, full implementation of territorial public‑service reforms, career‑plan enforcement, and allocation of land parcels under the SUTSAS‑Namora housing programme. It also warns of continued boycotts of tuberculosis‑control activities and possible withholding of health information if its demands are not met.
