Andalucía faces potential heavy rain from new DANA
Meteorological models indicate the potential formation of a new DANA (isolated high-altitude depression) southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, which could bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to southern Spain and the Canary Islands.
According to meteorologist Andrea Danta, a trough moving across the peninsula could trigger this system near North Africa, potentially affecting Andalucía, Ceuta, and Melilla. While the European and American GFS models suggest a shift toward wetter conditions starting Thursday, there remains significant uncertainty regarding the system's exact position and intensity.
Currently, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains a more stable forecast for Andalucía, predicting mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies for the upcoming weekend. However, if the DANA stabilizes between the Gulf of Cádiz and the Canary Islands, it could lead to intense precipitation episodes in both regions.
