Andalucía records best August for hotel stays since 1999

Andalucía recorded its best August for hotel overnight stays since 1999, according to provisional data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). The region saw 7.72 million overnight stays in August 2026, a 2% increase compared to the same month in 2025.

This growth has positively impacted the labor market, with hotel employment rising 9.9% year-on-year to 60,597 workers. The average daily rate per occupied room reached 177.92 euros, the highest recorded since 2008. Provincial growth was led by Córdoba (+11.2%), followed by Cádiz (+6.8%), Jaén (+5.4%), and Sevilla (+4.5%).

Additionally, domestic tourism in the region has reached 7 million travelers, representing a 2% annual increase. This segment, which includes rural, nature, and cultural destinations, has seen 140,000 more visitors than the previous period, helping to diversify tourist flows away from major urban and coastal hubs.
