Andalucía to fine healthcare aggressors up to 60,000 euros
The Junta de Andalucía plans to approve a comprehensive decree law before the end of the year to combat aggressions against healthcare professionals. The measure, introduced by Counselor Antonio Sanz, includes fines of up to 60,000 euros for offenders.
To ensure rapid response, the new sanctioning regime will operate independently of criminal proceedings. The law will also implement mechanisms to remove aggressors from healthcare facilities, provide legal protection to victims, and allow for anonymous reporting to mitigate the fear of retaliation. The legislation will specifically address recidivism and cyberbullying on social media.
This initiative follows a significant rise in incidents; in 2025, 1,976 attacks against healthcare workers were recorded in Andalucía. Approximately 80% of these incidents were verbal. The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has already provided legal assistance in 195 cases, 33 of which involved criminal offenses.
