Andalusia advances R&D and defense technology initiatives

Regional authorities and technological organizations in Andalusia are coordinating efforts to boost research, development, and innovation (R&D+i). Jorge Paradela, the regional Minister for University, Industry, Energy, and Innovation, met with the leadership of the Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía (CTA) to discuss a work plan aimed at transforming the regional economy. A primary goal is to increase R&D investment to 2% of the GDP and connect academic knowledge directly with industrial application.

To support this, the regional government is deploying several instruments, including the InnovaAndalucía program with a 59 million euro budget, the Smart Region Andalusia 2030 Plan, and public innovation procurement programs.

In a related development for the industrial sector, the Hub Defensa Andalucía held its inaugural session for the Commission of Dual-Use Technologies, Technological Development, and Defense Innovation at the Santana Science and Technology Park in Linares. The meeting focused on digitalization and technological solutions with dual-use applications, aiming to attract business investment and strengthen the region's strategic technological capabilities.
