Andalusia allocates €7.4 million to municipalities for gender‑based violence

The Spanish Government, through a decree published in the Boletín Oficial del Estado, has earmarked €7.43 million for Andalusian local councils. The money is part of the State Pact against Gender Violence and must be used to design and implement programmes aimed at eradicating gender‑based violence at the municipal level. The funding period runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Including other regional and specialised lines, Andalusia receives a total of €34.13 million for gender‑based violence initiatives. That total represents a 68.3 % increase since 2018. The allocation comes after July recorded the worst number of female homicide victims in recent years – six nationwide, with Andalusia accounting for about ten deaths, the highest figure in Spain. Deputy Government Representative in Andalusia Pedro Fernández highlighted the increase as a clear sign of the central executive’s commitment to equality and the fight against machismo.
