Andalusia and Extremadura launch new film funding and residency programmes

The Andalusian Council of Culture and Sport posted a €5.215 million grant scheme for feature films, documentaries and other audiovisual works. The programme, divided into three lines, raises maximum subsidies to €300,000 for debut directors, €450,000 for projects that strengthen the regional industry, and €125,000 for documentaries. New rules require key production roles and the applicant company to be based in Andalusia, and they add scoring for script quality and gender‑balanced production teams.

The Extremadura Film Residence announced a call for applications for its fourth edition, targeting feature‑length fiction, documentary and animation projects from Extremadura, the rest of Spain and the wider Ibero‑American region. Fifteen projects will be selected – five from each geographic group – and will participate in intensive workshops in Guadalupe (November) and Talavera la Real (spring 2027), as well as the Extremadura Film Market and the Málaga Film Festival industry sector in 2027.
