Andalusia and Vélez‑Málaga launch summer campaigns against gender violence

The Andalusian regional government has intensified its fight against gender‑based and sexual violence during the summer months, unveiling a campaign titled “Hay mucha vida detrás de una llamada”. The initiative promotes the 24‑hour, 72‑language hotline 900 200 999, which is linked to emergency number 112 and can activate immediate shelter services. Regional minister Loles López stressed that “ese teléfono salva vidas” and urged all Andalusians to keep the number saved on their phones.

In the municipality of Vélez‑Málaga, the Social Rights and Equality office introduced the “Puede ser cualquier mujer” campaign, financed by the State Pact against Gender Violence. Councilor Juan García and staff from the Municipal Women’s Information Centre presented illustrated posters showing women of all ages and professions, to be displayed on 30 mupis and 50 posters across the town and at local events. García said the message is clear: “cualquier mujer puede sufrir violencia de género”. The campaign aims to prevent abuse and raise public awareness of gender‑based violence.
