Andalusia announces A-407 highway repairs amid local protests

The regional government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) has announced plans to improve the A-407 highway, a key route connecting Fuentes de Andalucía, Lantejuela, and Osuna. Mario Muñoz-Atanet, the Minister of Public Works, stated that one million euros will be allocated for pavement repairs to be completed before the end of 2026. A second phase involving structural work, including lateral excavations and platform widening, is planned for 2027.

Despite the announcement, the municipal governments of Fuentes de Andalucía and Lantejuela are maintaining public demonstrations to demand more specific commitments. Local leaders, including Fuentes de Andalucía Mayor Francisco Martínez and Lantejuela Councilor Juan Lora, are requesting formal technical documentation, detailed budgets for each phase, specific road sections included in the works, and guaranteed execution timelines.

The first public protest is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, at the Fuentes de Andalucía Town Hall Plaza, as residents seek a comprehensive solution to the road's severe deterioration.
