Andalusia implements healthcare modernization and expanded immunization campaigns

The Andalusian regional government is implementing a major modernization of its public health system, the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS). Vice President Antonio Sanz announced that this transformation will include a digital overhaul involving over 400 digital projects and the introduction of a new Law of Guarantee of the Public Health System to protect professionals and improve accessibility.

In oncology, the region has reached a record in breast cancer screening, performing 421,000 mammographies last year. This follows an investment of 101 million euros to enhance early detection and technological resources, including the use of tomosynthesis for three-dimensional imaging.

Additionally, the immunization campaign against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has seen significant progress. In the first ten days, 16,941 infants under six months received the nirsevimab medication, representing a 14.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous campaign. The regional government has allocated 15.2 million euros to this immunization effort.
