Andalusia universities to launch 52 new academic programs in 2026
The Junta de Andalucía has authorized the implementation of 52 new university degrees, master's programs, and doctoral programs for the 2026/2027 academic year. This expansion is part of a regional academic plan running through 2028-2029, designed to align higher education with the digital era and economic demands.
The new offerings include 16 undergraduate degrees, 34 master's degrees, and two doctoral programs. Key areas of focus include artificial intelligence, big data, digital transformation, health sciences, clean energy, and industrial engineering. Many of these programs are inter-university or dual-modality, combining theoretical study with practical business experience to improve employability.
Specific institutional updates include:
- Universidad de Jaén: Introducing Biomedical Engineering, Digital and Agricultural Management, and Civil Engineering. - Universidad de Sevilla: Launching programs in Speech Therapy, Plasma and Fusion Science, and Data Science. - Universidad de Almería: Adding two new specific titles to its catalog. - Universidad Pablo de Olavide: Implementing one new degree.
Approximately 75% of these new studies will be offered through the public university system across nine campuses in Andalusia.
