Andalusia approves first bullfighting strategy through 2030

The Government Council of Andalusia has approved the first ‘Andalusian Bullfighting Strategy,’ a framework designed to protect and promote bullfighting through 2030. The initiative aims to coordinate regional actions regarding the activity, which the administration views as an integral part of Andalusian cultural heritage linked to history, rural environments, and various economic sectors.

The strategy is organized around six main pillars: cultural recognition and protection (including the recovery of heritage bullrings), professional training, economic and business promotion, regulatory modernization and safety, social dialogue, and digital transformation and innovation.

Beyond the spectacle itself, the plan emphasizes the sector's transversal impact on the conservation of the dehesa, fighting bull ranching, craftsmanship, tourism, and gastronomy. Key objectives include ensuring generational renewal, economic sustainability, and adapting the tradition to contemporary social and environmental challenges through public-private collaborations.
