Andalusia considers extra deadline for civil servant career alignment

The Junta de Andalucía administration is considering implementing a supplementary period for the horizontal career alignment of public officials. This measure would address workers who were unable to request their initial alignment due to justified circumstances.

According to the Sindicato Andaluz de Funcionarios (SAF), the administration is open to this extension for employees who were not in active service during the initial procedure, such as those on leave, special services, or medical leave. The SAF has requested that the new deadline begin the day after a worker returns to active service to ensure those with temporary disabilities or digital disconnection rights are not disadvantaged.

The administration has clarified that it does not contemplate retroactive effects upon re-entry into active service. It maintains that workers not in active service cannot be subject to the initial alignment, as the benefit would be treated as a new appointment rather than a re-entry, thereby denying any claims of discrimination.
