Andalusia develops green hydrogen industrial axis

Andalusia is positioning itself as a central hub for Europe’s green hydrogen development through the creation of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley. This industrial axis aims to connect the energy poles of Huelva and the Campo de Gibraltar, targeting a global investment of approximately 3,000 million euros.

In Huelva, the Onuba project by Moeve has already entered its first phase. In Cádiz, specifically in San Roque, the Moeve Carteia project is planned to produce, store, and distribute green ammonia. This facility aims for a production capacity of up to 2,400 tons of ammonia daily, utilizing 1,000 MW of electrolysis power.

The regional government views this transition as a way to achieve energy sovereignty and decarbonize heavy industries, maritime transport, and aviation. To support this industrial shift, the Junta de Andalucía has allocated 2.48 million euros for specialized green hydrogen training programs scheduled for 2026.
