Andalusia executes 114 million euros in road repairs after severe storms

The Regional Government of Andalusia has executed 114 million euros in emergency repairs to the regional road network following unprecedented damage caused by a series of storms between January and March 2026. The total cost for these works is expected to reach approximately 278 million euros, a figure that represents a sixteen-fold increase over the average emergency spending of the previous eight years.

The storm damage, caused by several weather systems including Joseph and Kristin, resulted in over 1,000 serious traffic incidents, including rockfalls, landslides, and structural collapses. These events necessitated 140 total traffic closures and 60 partial closures to ensure user safety and access to homes and workplaces.

In addition to the regional road network, specific local repairs are underway in Alcalá la Real. The regional government has begun repairing ten rural roads in the area, involving 13 different sections with a total investment of over 509,000 euros to restore transitability for agricultural operations.
